Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved permanent hair removal method, suitable for all skin tones and hair types. It works by using a fine probe to deliver a small electrical current directly into the hair follicle, effectively destroying its ability to regrow.
Unlike laser hair removal, which targets pigment in the hair, electrolysis works on any hair colour –including blonde, grey, red, and white – making it an excellent choice for those who may not be suitable for laser treatments. It’s a precise and effective method often used for smaller areas, such as the face, neck, and bikini line.
Please Note: To carry out Electrolysis Hair Removal you will require a full consultation and patch test.

The treatment area is cleansed, and a fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle.
A small electrical current is delivered to destroy the follicle's ability to grow hair.
The area may appear slightly red after treatment, but this subsides quickly. Proper aftercare ensures the best results.

How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies based on hair type, density, hormones, and growth cycles. A consultation will determine your personalised plan, but a minimum of 8 sessions is typically recommended.
How often do I need to have electrolysis?
Electrolysis sessions are initially closer together to target hair in the active growth phase. As progress is made, the time between sessions increases.
Can you have electrolysis if under 18?
No. It’s not recommended due to hormones. Some insurance companies also won’t allow laser on under 18s.
Does electrolysis work on grey/white/blonde/red hair?
Yes! Unlike laser, electrolysis is effective on all hair colours, including grey, white, blonde, and red.
Does laser hurt?
The sensation varies by individual and treatment area. Most clients describe it as a mild stinging or tingling, and numbing creams can be used for added comfort.
Can you perform electrolysis over tattoos?
Yes, electrolysis can be done over tattooed skin without affecting the ink.
Where can’t you laser?
Electrolysis cannot be performed inside the nose, ears, or over moles. We’ll assess any concerns during your consultation.
Can I bring children/friends to an appointment?
No only the client receiving treatment and the therapist can be in the room for safety reasons. Children cannot be left unattended during treatment, this includes patch tests.
What happens if I am on my period?
Please pop a tampon in and advise the therapist so they know to adjust the string. Alternatively, you can use a menstrual cup.
Does laser work on darker skin colours?
Yes! Electrolysis is safe and effective for all skin tones, as it does not rely on pigment to target hair follicles.
I’m on medication, can I still have laser?
Some medications can affect treatment. Please inform me of any prescriptions, especially antibiotics, steroids, or hormone-related medications.
What if I have metal pins/plates?
Electrolysis is safe if you have metal implants, as it does not penetrate deep enough to interfere with them.
I have piercings! Can I have laser?
Yes they will need to be removed during the treatment.
Can I have electrolysis if I use sun beds or fake tan?
We recommend avoiding tanning (real or fake) before treatment, as it can make skin more sensitive.
Is electrolysis permanent?
Yes! Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved permanent hair removal method. It destroys the follicle, preventing regrowth.
How often would I need maintenance sessions?
Some clients may require occasional touch-ups due to hormonal changes or new follicle activation, but treated hairs do not grow back.
Can I wax/pluck between my sessions?
No, as this disrupts the follicle’s cycle. Shaving or trimming is the only recommended method between sessions.
What products do you recommend for aftercare?
We recommend Pure Aloe Vera Gel and Hypo21 spray for soothing, along with regular hydration and gentle exfoliation.
