Aesthetics By Dr Emma - Medical Expertise. Naturally you
Doctor-Led Aesthetic Medicine in Braintree, Essex
When it comes to aesthetic medicine, trust matters.
My name is Dr Emma Castro, and I am the resident medical aesthetics practitioner at The Treatment Rooms in Braintree, Essex. I’m an Emergency Medicine Consultant with advanced training in facial anatomy and aesthetic medicine. My background in acute hospital care has shaped the way I practice with precision, ethics, and above all, patient safety at the forefront of everything I do.
Today, I’d like to properly introduce myself not just as a doctor, but as someone who genuinely understands the emotional and physical journey many of my patients are navigating.
My Medical Background
Before stepping into the world of aesthetic medicine, I built my career in Emergency Medicine within the NHS. Working in high-pressure hospital environments teaches you two things very quickly: attention to detail saves lives, and there is no room for guesswork.
Aesthetic medicine may be elective, but it is still medicine.
Understanding vascular anatomy, facial danger zones, complication management and safe prescribing is not optional — it is fundamental. My hospital training means I approach every patient with clinical discipline, structured assessment, and comprehensive risk management.
Safety is not a marketing phrase. It is a professional obligation.
Why I Moved Into Aesthetic Medicine
I was drawn to aesthetic medicine because it blends science with subtle artistry.
Ageing is natural. Hormonal changes are natural. Volume shifts, collagen loss and changes in skin texture are natural. But that doesn’t mean we have to ignore the emotional impact they can have.
Over the years, I began seeing more women particularly in peri-menopause and menopause who felt that their reflection no longer matched how they felt inside. They weren’t asking to look different. They weren’t asking to look “done.” They simply wanted to look less tired, less drawn, and more like themselves again.
That is where thoughtful, doctor-led aesthetic treatment can make a powerful difference.
My Philosophy: Subtle, Structured, Personalised
I practice conservative, personalised aesthetic medicine.
You will not find overfilled faces or exaggerated results in my clinic. My approach is structured and medically led:
Detailed consultation
Full medical history
Facial assessment in motion and at rest
Discussion of lifestyle and hormonal factors
Realistic expectations
A phased treatment plan
Many of the concerns I treat are not about “wrinkles” alone. They include:
Loss of mid-face volume
Hollowing under the eyes
Early jowl formation
Loss of jawline definition
Lip thinning, particularly in the upper outer lip
Skin laxity related to collagen decline
These changes are particularly common during peri-menopause and menopause, where declining oestrogen impacts skin thickness, hydration and structural support.
The key is never to chase lines in isolation. The face functions as a structural unit. Thoughtful restoration respects anatomy and proportions.
Doctor-Led Treatment Matters
The aesthetics industry is largely unregulated in the UK. That can make it difficult for patients to know who is medically qualified and who is not.
As a GMC-registered doctor and Emergency Medicine Consultant, I am trained to:
Prescribe safely
Recognise complications early
Manage emergencies if they arise
Understand systemic health considerations
Assess suitability for treatment
Certain treatments should always be delivered by a qualified medical prescriber. A full medical consultation protects you not just cosmetically, but medically.
Your face deserves clinical expertise.
Supporting Women Through Hormonal Change
One area I feel particularly passionate about is supporting women navigating hormonal shifts.
During peri-menopause and menopause, we commonly see:
Skin dryness and thinning
Slower wound healing
Increased fine lines
Volume loss in cheeks and lips
Jawline softening
Increased sensitivity
Many women tell me they feel as though their face has “dropped” almost suddenly.
What’s important to understand is that these changes are not a personal failure. They are biological.
Treatment during this stage of life must be approached carefully. Skin may be more reactive. Collagen stimulation treatments may need adapting. Volume restoration must remain natural.
Often, aesthetic treatments work best alongside:
Medical hormone support (if appropriate and prescribed separately)
Professional skin treatments
Medical-grade skincare
Lifestyle adjustments
Aesthetic medicine should never exist in isolation. It works best as part of a broader, medically informed plan.
What a Consultation With Me Looks Like
Consultations are calm, thorough and honest.
You will never feel pressured. You will never be sold to.
Instead, we will discuss:
What concerns you most
When you first noticed changes
Your health history
Your previous treatments
Your lifestyle factors
What outcome would feel right for you
Sometimes the best advice is to wait. Sometimes we focus on skin quality before structural treatment. Sometimes small, staged adjustments deliver the most elegant results.
My role is to guide, not persuade.
A Word on Expectations
There is no instant perfection.
Aesthetic medicine is not about transformation. It is about refinement.
Small improvements, placed correctly and safely, can restore balance and softness. The aim is that friends notice you look well not that you’ve had treatment.
Consistency matters. Maintenance matters. Skin health matters.
Subtle changes add up.
Working Alongside The Treatment Rooms
I am proud to work in collaboration with Emma and the team at The Treatment Rooms in Braintree. Their skin-focused, consultation-led approach aligns perfectly with my own medical ethos.
Together, we offer:
Structured skin consultations
Advanced skin treatments
Doctor-led aesthetic procedures
Ongoing maintenance plans
A calm, inclusive clinic environment
Patients often tell us they feel listened to and that matters more than anything.
Who I Treat
Most of my patients are women aged 35–65 who want:
Subtle rejuvenation
Natural volume restoration
Improved facial definition
Skin support during hormonal change
A medically qualified practitioner
Ethical advice
However, aesthetic medicine is not age-restricted. Suitability depends on individual assessment.
If you are unsure whether treatment is right for you, that conversation starts with a consultation — not a procedure.
Final Thoughts
Choosing to explore aesthetic treatment is personal.
It should feel empowering not pressured. Informed not impulsive. Safe not risky.
As a doctor, my responsibility is to ensure that every treatment recommendation is grounded in anatomy, evidence, and your individual goals.
You deserve transparency.
You deserve clinical expertise.
You deserve to feel comfortable in your own skin.
If you are considering doctor-led aesthetic treatment in Braintree or Essex, I would be honoured to guide you through your options safely and thoughtfully.
